This website is run by Choppington Parish Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website.

How accessible this website is
The Choppington Parish Council website has recently been redesigned and reviewed with accessibility in mind. As part of this work, we have improved the structure, layout, navigation, headings, colour contrast, mobile display, link text and general usability of the website.
The website does not currently use an accessibility overlay or accessibility widget. Instead, we aim to make the website itself accessible by improving the underlying structure, navigation, content, colour contrast, keyboard access, mobile layout, links, images and documents.
Users can also use their browser, device or assistive technology settings to adjust colours, contrast, font sizes, zoom levels and screen reader settings.
We are continuing to review and improve the accessibility of the website as new content is added.
We know that some parts of the website may not be fully accessible. These include:
- some older PDF documents, including agendas, minutes and financial documents

Older documents

We do not currently plan to fix all historic minutes, agendas or archived documents published before this date. However, if you need information from an older document in a more accessible format, please contact us and we will consider your request.
Images
Some images on the website may need improved alternative text.
We are aware of this issue and are reviewing images across the website. Where images are meaningful, we will add appropriate alternative text. Where images are decorative, they may have blank alternative text so they are ignored by screen readers.

PDFs and other documents published before 23 September 2018 do not need to be fixed unless they are essential to providing our services.
Live video
We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.
What we are doing to improve accessibility
We have recently carried out accessibility improvement work on the website, including:
- redesigning the website layout to improve readability and navigation
- improving mobile display and responsive layouts
- reviewing headings and page structure
- checking links and correcting broken or unclear links where identified
- reviewing PDF links and document labelling
- checking colour contrast and visual readability
- reviewing images and identifying where alternative text needs to be improved
- introducing ongoing accessibility monitoring
We will continue to monitor the website and carry out regular accessibility checks. This will include periodic reviews of new content, images, documents and links.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 19 December 2024.
It was last reviewed on 9 July 2026.
This website was last tested in April 2026 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.
The test was carried out by Pauline Moon of Herts Premium Websites.
Testing was carried out using automated accessibility testing tools, including WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool, together with manual checks of key pages, navigation, headings, links, colour contrast, mobile display and document links.
The previous accessibility test report was prepared before the website was redesigned and relaunched in April 2026. The previous report is available to view.
This accessibility statement will be reviewed at least once every 12 months, or sooner if significant changes are made to the website.
